How I keep my art practice simple and frequent – written by Charlotte from CLT_Abstracts

I used to rely on random inspiration with no set theme or template to work from. I found the extensive freedom with this too overwhelming, especially as someone with adhd. So this year, i decided i would create a monthly theme to focus my work on. This is as follows:

MonthTheme
JanuaryMarks – stencils/marbles/sticks
FebruaryLight blue abstract studies
MarchInktense views on postcards
AprilFlowers in bloom
MayChanging sea colours
JuneTrees
JulyAbstract people
AugustEnergy bursts
SeptemberOrange studies
OctoberTexture studies
NovemberChristmas cards
DecemberStill life amongst the chaos

Here are some examples of work i have created so far this year:

Check out my intuitive artwork collection on www.Instagram.com/CLT_Abstracts Feel free to msg me for a private commission. All art is made with reclaimed canvas and salvaged mixed media to reflect the climate change crisis. CLT_Abstracts takes the boundaries of the skilled art world and breaks them down in a bid for putting self expression as the priority, without fear of being predictable or pretentious! I make art based on what I feel rather than what I see in the hope that it speaks to you and leaves a bold impression through a sense of movement, burst of colour and curious textures. Inspiration comes to me on daily Cornish walks near to my home. My blog aims to explore where my inspiration comes from in more depth as well as sharing my making process. Enjoy!
